Academic Tutor Position

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Tutor to join our team at Wooster Middle School. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are eager to support students in their academic journey, helping them to enhance their understanding of core subjects and develop effective study skills. The ideal candidate will create a positive and encouraging learning environment, fostering a love for learning and academic success among middle school students.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in subjects such as math, reading, and language arts.
• Assess student learning needs and develop personalized tutoring plans to address specific challenges and goals.
• Assist students in completing homework assignments and preparing for tests and exams.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents/guardians.
• Foster a supportive and motivating atmosphere that encourages student engagement and confidence.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to align tutoring sessions with classroom curriculum and objectives.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and feedback.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in education, a relevant subject area, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience, particularly with middle school students, is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum and educational best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a positive learning environment.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed academically.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including after school and potentially weekends.
• Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and online learning platforms is a plus.
