Aircraft Instrumentation Technician
PGS Worldwide is seeking an Aircraft Instrumentation Technician in Stratford, CT for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Aircraft Instrumentation Technician will build, install, operate, and maintain instrumentation systems used to collect engineering test data. This role requires extensive strain-gauge experience and includes instrumentation wiring, system checkout, calibration, preventive maintenance, and operation of data-acquisition and recording equipment.
Required Skills- Bachelor's degree with 16+ years of relevant experience, or master's degree with 14+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive strain-gauge installation, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience building and maintaining instrumentation systems.
- Ability to work from travelers and technical instructions prepared by engineering technicians.
- Experience preparing, installing, checking out, and operating instrumentation systems.
- Experience performing planned maintenance and calibration activities.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures for instrumentation and control equipment.
- Experience ensuring the accuracy and validity of recorded test data.
- Experience operating data-acquisition systems and related recording equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation equipment, wiring, sensors, and data-quality issues.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Experience working on test aircraft.
- Aircraft avionics experience.
- Aircraft instrumentation wiring experience.
- Experience supporting flight-test or aerospace engineering programs.
- Familiarity with instrumentation-system configuration, sensor installation, and signal verification.
- Build and maintain engineering instrumentation systems.
- Install strain gauges, sensors, wiring, and associated instrumentation components.
- Prepare instrumentation systems for engineering and aircraft test activities.
- Perform system checkout and verify proper operation before testing.
- Operate data-acquisition systems and recording equipment.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and control equipment.
- Follow travelers, technical instructions, and established operating procedures.
- Monitor instrumentation performance and troubleshoot system or data issues.
- Verify that measurement data is accurate, complete, and valid.
- Maintain test, calibration, maintenance, and configuration records.
- Coordinate with technicians, engineers, and test personnel to meet data-collection requirements.
Pay: $21.43–$68.00 per hour
