Job Title:
Financial Support Specialist
Supervisor:Director of Finance
Purpose:Supports and complements the goals and vision of the Board of Education through the promotion of excellent financial and administrative service.
Scope:The Financial Support Specialist will be responsible for providing exceptional financial support and assistance as well as organizing, coordinating, and maintaining records and data as directed and required by the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities:- Implement processes and procedures to streamline student activity accounts including, but not limited to setting up and maintaining a new database system under the direct support and supervision of the Director of Finance.
- Monitor and review school activity account transactions by working collaboratively with school personnel.
- Review student activity accounts with the Director of Finance and school administrators on a quarterly basis.
- Assist in reconciling insurance statements for health insurance, life insurance, FMLA, workers compensation, etc., to ensure accuracy of data.
- Assist with routine business office operations: journal entries, bank deposits, cash transfers, bank reconciliations, and budget transfers.
- Provide backup support for other finance and departmental functions.
- Provide secretarial support to the Administrator for Assessments, Accountability and Grants.
- Provide all other duties and services as required by the Director of Finance or designee.
- Ability to identify, prioritize and complete multiple projects on-time, by required deadlines and within required rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
- Ability to compose professional correspondence including, but not limited to, responding to questions and requests for information.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office Suite, ALIO and Quick Books Software and willingness to learn and increase proficiency in necessary software systems, in accordance with job demands.
- Ability to research the internet for information.
- Ability to function effectively with minimal supervision (self-directed, organized and detail-oriented).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work well with colleagues.
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of solid business office or related experience required.
- Demonstrated success working in a time-sensitive environment requiring minimal direction.
- The salary for this position is determined in accordance with the provisions of the current Stratford Association of Educational Secretaries contract.
- Full-time, Full-year position.
- Grade 13; 1.0 FTE.
