Role Overview
We are seeking a Security Project Manager to lead a critical, high-stakes compliance project. This role involves managing an independent, third-party security program assessment mandated by a regulatory body. The successful candidate will oversee the end-to-end project, ensuring all security controls are validated and evidence is prepared within a strict timeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Associate CISO to manage the project lifecycle, timelines, and status reporting.
- Coordinate with the third-party assessment vendor to manage scheduling, deliverables, and prevent scope creep.
- Organize and manage data and evidence collection to ensure seamless validation by assessors.
- Track identified control gaps, communicate risks to internal technical teams, and project-manage remediation activities.
- Oversee work tracking for initiatives including Incident Response Plan (IRP) updates, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) implementation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of dedicated experience managing information security risk assessments or IT/security audits.
- Strong project management framework alignment and risk assessment methodology.
- Experience dealing directly with external auditors or assessors.
- A focused approach to scope management with the ability to keep an assessor on target.
- High emotional intelligence and diplomacy to manage high-pressure, sensitive regulatory environments.
- Assertiveness and strong boundaries to keep third-party assessors aligned with the mandated scope.
- Executive presence with a clear communication style for reporting to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience project managing post-breach remediation.
- Experience with regulatory consent decree or attorney general response frameworks.
