Fifth Grade Spanish Dual Language Teacher Vacancy Second Hill Lane Elementary School

Second Hill Lane Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and highly qualified educator to teach the Spanish side of a fifth grade 50/50 Dual Language program. The teacher will provide Spanish language arts and content-area instruction in Spanish as part of Stratford Public Schools’ Juntos Dual Language Program, which supports bilingualism, biliteracy, academic achievement, and sociocultural competence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in bilingual education, biliteracy development, culturally responsive instruction, and elementary pedagogy. This educator will work collaboratively with the English partner teacher to plan and deliver aligned instruction across languages, support cross-linguistic connections, and ensure students have access to rigorous grade-level content in both Spanish and English.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing high-quality Spanish instruction, developing students’ academic language and literacy in Spanish, using data to inform instruction, supporting multilingual learners, collaborating with grade-level and dual language colleagues, communicating with families, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school community.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to asset-based instruction, biliteracy practices, student-centered learning, and the goals of a 50/50 dual language model. Spanish fluency and appropriate Connecticut certification are required.

This position is an opportunity to join a growing dual language program committed to preparing students to become bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent learners.

The appropriate certification is typically:

Elementary Education, Grades 1–6, endorsement #305, plus Elementary Bilingual Education, Spanish, endorsement #902.
