- Provide overall operational leadership for multiple concurrent mechanical construction projects.
- Lead and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Leaders, ensuring consistent execution standards.
- Own P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, margin protection, and financial reporting.
- Oversee project execution from turnover through closeout, ensuring schedule adherence, quality, and profitability.
- Establish and monitor operational KPIs (labor productivity, schedule performance, safety, change-order exposure).
- Drive preconstruction strategy, including constructability reviews, staffing plans, procurement strategy, and risk mitigation.
- Govern change order management, scope evaluation, pricing, approvals, and recovery.
- Ensure compliance with safety, QA/QC, labor standards, prevailing wage, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with ownership and senior leadership on growth strategy, staffing plans, and process improvement.
- Act as a senior client-facing leader, supporting key relationships and repeat business.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical/HVAC construction.
- Proven experience overseeing HVAC, plumbing, piping, steam, hot water, and mechanical systems.
- Background managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of job cost reporting, forecasting, and P&L ownership.
- Experience leading Project Managers and field operations, not just individual projects.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with BMS integration, commissioning, and complex retrofits preferred.
- Preferred Background
- Former Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager, Construction Manager, or Director of Operations within a mechanical contractor.
- Prior field experience (Superintendent, Foreman, Pipefitter, Mechanic) strongly preferred.
- Experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with Connecticut / Northeast construction environments is a plus.
