Fluorescent Inspector
Perform a variety of routine fluorescent inspection operations on non-ferrous parts and materials.
Typical Responsibilities- Follow prescribed inspection procedures, drawings, specifications, records, check sheets, and other oral or written instructions to set up and operate fluorescent inspection equipment for fluorescent inspection operations.
- Check for material defects, cracks, cold shunts, micro‑shrinkage, hot tears, corrosion and defects on machines and/or service incurred parts, castings, forgings, etc.
- Determine acceptability of parts and materials in accordance with quality standards.
- Grind and polish as required to determine extent of defect remaining, within dimensions limits.
- Responsible for proper preparation of penetrant and developer solution, and correct functioning of equipment.
- Test parts for hardness, moving parts using hand truck when necessary, and perform other related inspection operations when required.
- Perform operator checklist as required.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
- Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
- Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
- Refer only unusual conditions to Working Leader or supervisor.
- Experience with metallurgical and NDI inspection methods (e.g., fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle).
- Prior inspection experience in an aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with MRB processes, AS9100, or other aerospace quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
