THE WORK
- Follow specifications, drawings, operations sheets, and interpret a broad range of instructions to process main and tail rotor blades for overhaul and repair and production as well as metal finishing and preparing surfaces and spray paint to produce high grade finishes on aircraft rotor blades.
- Strip blades of old finish and wash blades subsequent to stripping operations to ensure all paint removal solvents have been eliminated from blade surface.
- Operate drying oven to ensure proper drying times for rinsed blades as well as for finish painted blade process.
- Assist in the evaluation of paints, equipment and techniques involved in the processing of main and tail rotor blades.
- Prepare and apply filler compounds to build up or fill holes, dents, scratches, breaks, joints, or other surface flaws; shape, smooth, and blend filler material to surrounding surface using floats, rasps, sanders, buffers, and other hand or power tools.
- Follow prescribed procedures for the application of primers, including 3917 primer to achieve uniform coverage, proper blending, etc.; within thickness and weight limitation specified on blades and associated parts.
- Correct for any adverse conditions affecting spray operations such as humidity, temperature, improper pressure, etc.
- Follow drawings and specifications as well as, create computer generated graphics to layout and paint customer's identification and distinctive insignia, and to prepare and apply patterns decals, stencils and other marking and identifying data.
- Perform any necessary repair operations to attain required flawless high grade surface finish, such as sand, scuff, rub, and blend out scratches, correct for sags, runs, orange-peel, blisters, blush and other imperfections.
- As directed, mix paint, perform taping, masking, stripping, touch-up, caulking operations, etch, and perform other related duties such as painting small parts and details on occasion.
- Apply customized paint, stenciling and markings per customer request.
- Refer only unusual situations to working leader or supervisor.
- Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator-required upkeep.
- Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.

Basic Qualifications:
- Require H.S. diploma and/or equivalent education combined with career experience.

- Require a minimum of 2 years of professional paint and body work experience.

- Previous experience working from ordinary drawings and sketches and use variable measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier gages.

- Requires knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions and its application to the reading of drawings and the use of variable measuring instruments.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
