WHAT WE'RE DOING

We are seeking a Software Engineer to drive complex software solutions for Mission Systems. Working with only general direction, you will independently define solution approaches, lead design reviews, and ensure software deliverables meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

THE WORK
  • Design, develop, and integrate software components for mission‑critical systems.
  • Lead technical design reviews and validate solutions against requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers, cross‑functional teams, and senior technical leadership to resolve difficult technical issues.
  • Contribute to product‑line road‑maps and influence future technology directions.
  • Apply modern software‑engineering practices, including Agile, Dev Sec Ops , DO‑178C compliance, and multi‑language development.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead small development teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and presentation skills for inter‑organizational and customer engagements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high‑quality software on time and within budget.
  • Experience with Agile, Dev Sec Ops , DO‑178C, and multi‑language development environments.

Desired skills
  • Expertise in multiple programming languages (C/C++, Python, C#) and software‑architecture patterns.
  • Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, static analysis, and configuration management (Git Lab, Jenkins, Make/CMake).
  • Strong background in Agile Scrum, serving as Scrum Master or Product Owner (certification preferred).
  • Experience with DO‑178C, safety‑critical development, and model‑based engineering (MBSE, SysML/UML).

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
