* Job Summary
**
The Payroll Processor is responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll records, reviewing timekeeping data, calculating wages and deductions, and resolving payroll discrepancies. The Payroll Processor works closely with HR and accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll for employees on a weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly schedule.
- Review and verify employee timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation adjustments.
- Process employee deductions including taxes, benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records in the payroll system.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management, finance and Human Resources.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate with HR regarding employee status changes such as hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
- Administer employee's health insurance including verification of eligibility and processing of enrollments.
- Review benefits carrier invoices for accuracy of population, elections, and changes.
- Assist with year-end payroll processes including W-2 and affordable care act, preparation, reporting, and electronic filing.
- Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue balances and send payment reminders
- Support payroll audits and maintain documentation for compliance purposes.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred).
- 1-3 years of payroll processing or related accounting experience.
- Knowledge of payroll systems (such as ADP, Paychex, or similar software).
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and wage laws.
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Experience with HRIS or integrated payroll systems.
