At 7 17 Credit Union, we believe in helping our members achieve financial success while providing exceptional service every step of the way. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Loan Closer to join our Real Estate Lending team.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and closing residential mortgage loans while ensuring compliance with company policies, investor requirements, and regulatory guidelines. You will serve as a key liaison between members, title companies, internal departments, and business partners to ensure a smooth and timely closing experience.

What You'll Do
  • Review loan files to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Prepare and audit closing documents for compliance with company, investor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review title commitments and work with title companies to resolve issues prior to closing.
  • Generate and deliver Closing Disclosures within required regulatory time frames.
  • Coordinate and schedule closings with borrowers and title companies.
  • Communicate effectively with members, underwriters, branch staff, vendors, and external partners throughout the loan process.
  • Accurately enter and maintain loan information within the loan origination and core systems.
  • Board newly funded loans and ensure receipt of complete closing packages.
  • Assist with construction loan billing and conversion to permanent financing.
  • Support loan delivery to investors and sub‑servicers.
  • Assist with mortgage servicing functions including escrow administration, ARM changes, annual notices, payment corrections, and collateral tracking.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies to ensure a seamless closing process.
  • Maintain knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, compliance requirements, and secondary market guidelines.
  • Assist with training materials, procedures, and departmental documentation.
  • Meet individual and departmental performance goals.

Qualifications Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience
  • Minimum 18 months of experience within the last five years preparing mortgage closing documents or underwriting residential real‑estate loans eligible for sale on the secondary market.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage lending regulations and secondary market guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Byte Loan Origination System (LOS) is preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Must successfully complete an Excel assessment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding member information and Credit Union business matters.
