Job Summary
Operates computer‑controlled laser machine to produce blanks for additional manufacturing operations or sell as is, as finished parts.
Shift SchedulePosition is Monday–Thursday night; 6 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Pay $21–$24 per hour DOE. Night shift premium of $3.00 per hour.
Essential Duties- Determine if material supplied meets production requirements.
- Remove cut pieces from sheet and examine for defects associated with laser cutting including edge quality and surface non‑conformities such as scratches.
- Fill out production paperwork and time‑keeping records.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area in compliance with facility housekeeping policies.
- Wear required safety equipment and follow equipment safe operation procedures.
- Correctly fill out tags associated with production to identify parts produced.
- Read blueprints to review characteristics that need to be monitored; if assistance is required, obtain help from QA or Laser Operations Manager.
- Monitor calibration of equipment within the department.
- Check parts utilizing calipers, micrometers and height gauges.
- Measure parts effectively to guarantee conformity to print specifications.
- Perform basic maintenance on the laser including nozzle changes and nozzle centering operation.
- Know what the Company "Quality Policy" and "Quality Objectives" mean to them and their role associated with the achievement of these objectives.
- Assist the Cell Leader with the introduction of "Continuous Improvement" ideas.
- Properly start up and shut down the laser machine.
- Operate basic programming/editing and control.
- Program variable shapes (circle, square, rectangle, etc.).
- Fix head crashes.
- Effectively perform window changing and cleaning.
- Effectively perform a nozzle change alignment.
- Load correct program into control to run correct parts and quantities.
- Perform maintenance activities described in the PM log.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
2–3 years prior experience. - Computer
Skills:
Basic computer knowledge. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid crane certification/Sheet lifter training. Tow motor certification. - Special Requirements:
- Communicate well in English.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work overtime when required.
- Reliable team player with some leadership skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend or twist; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
- Steel‑toed shoes are required in all manufacturing cells.
- Safety glasses must be worn in all manufacturing areas. Hearing protection must be worn in all posted areas and is optional in unmarked areas.
While performing the duty of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
