Job Description
Wabtec – Motive Equipment (MEI) produces cab comfort products for locomotives. We are ISO

As a member of the Motive Equipment location of Wabtec, you will be responsible for production of quality products. The Assembler reports directly to the Production Supervisor and indirectly to the Shop Floor Leads. The Production team ensures compliance with Wabtec’s quality standards, while working efficiently and effectively within a lean environment, and is instrumental in furnishing our customers with a quality and reliable product.
Responsibilities- Assemble components according to blueprints, routes, work orders, checklists, and specifications to build, assemble, and test parts and finished goods that meet quality standards in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Accurately complete assembly checklists.
- Monitor stock bins in work area and report stock needs to Shop Floor Lead(s).
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following company standards and procedures.
- Adhere to the Wabtec Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised.
- Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
- Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement changes in processes and procedures as needed.
- Ability to understand and interpret drawings, BOMs and procedures.
- Hear.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
- Stand and/or walk for 6 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.
- Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds independently or up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
- Operate forklift and overhead crane.
- Wear steel‑toed shoes and safety glasses; hearing protection in designated areas.
- On‑site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
- Engage daily face‑to‑face interaction and communication with employees on production line and management.
- The employee will normally work on the production shop floor with varying temperatures and exposure to fumes and minimal to moderate noise.
The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $18.50 – $20.00 per hour. Salary may be influenced by training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. Base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
