Software Engineer Sr., Core Apps and Payroll Team

Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer within PNC’s Technology organization, you will belong to the HR Core Apps and Payroll team and report to a Software Engineering Manager Sr. Locations include Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Cleveland OH, Dallas TX and Phoenix AZ.

• Own and evolve Workday integrations and related HR/Payroll applications.
• Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors) and ETL pipelines.
• Lead application governance: certificate renewal, vulnerability remediation, audit response.
• Author and maintain mainframe JCL jobs, monitor execution and optimize performance (nice to have).
• Implement secure file transmissions (SFTP/HTTPS/AS2), data validations, schema management, and reconciliation.
• Use monitoring tools (Dynatrace, Big Panda) to detect anomalies, reduce MTTR, and drive incident prevention.
• Partner with Enterprise Security to enforce data security and privacy controls.
• Apply SDLC and Agile practices (Scrum/Kanban), manage work in Jira, and coordinate incident/change management in Service Now.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, mentor peers, and contribute to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with technology teams, vendors, and business partners to prioritize, plan, and deliver integrations.

• 5–8+ years of software or integration engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors) and Workday ecosystem security.
• Proficiency in ETL design and implementation, data modeling, mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or Big Panda, including alerting, dashboards, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response.
• Knowledge of access management, data security, encryption, and secure file transfers.
• Hands‑on experience with Jira, Service Now, and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Workday certifications (e.g., Workday Studio, Integration Specialist).
• Oracle SQL and performance tuning knowledge.
• Experience with vendor HR systems and HR data standards.
• Mainframe JCL writing and batch processing.
