Software Engineer Sr - Workday Integration

As a Senior Software Engineer within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH.

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve Workday integrations and related HR/Payroll applications. You'll lead ETL workflows, mainframe JCL jobs, file transmissions, and monitoring across a complex, business‑critical ecosystem. This role combines hands‑on engineering, troubleshooting, and cross‑team collaboration with vendors and internal technology partners.

• Design, build, and maintain Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors) and associated ETL pipelines to move data between Workday, payroll systems, and vendor apps.
• Act as Application Team Lead, demonstrating ownership of governance and controls for assigned applications; including timely certificate renewals, remediation of vulnerabilities, and responding to internal and external audits.
• Author and maintain JCL to schedule and run jobs on the mainframe; monitor execution, handle failures, and optimize performance (nice to have).
• Implement secure file transmissions (SFTP/HTTPS/AS2), data validations, and reconciliation; manage schemas, mappings, and transformations.
• Use tools like Dynatrace and Big Panda to detect anomalies, reduce MTTR, and drive incident prevention through observability and automation.
• Partner with PNC Enterprise security and access management teams to ensure data security and privacy controls for all assigned applications.
• Work in Agile (Scrum/Kanban), manage work in Jira, and coordinate incident/change management in Service Now.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, mentor peers, and contribute to engineering standards.
• Work closely with technology teams, vendors, and business partners to prioritize, plan, and deliver integrations and enhancements.

• 3+ years in software engineering or integration engineering, with hands‑on ownership of production integrations and ETL processes.
• Strong experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors), troubleshooting, and coding within the Workday ecosystem.
• Proficient in ETL design and implementation; data modeling, mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with Dynatrace and/or Big Panda, alerting, dashboards, SLI/SLOs, and incident response.
• Working knowledge of access management, data security, encryption, and secure file transfers.
• Experience with Jira, Service Now, Agile methodologies; strong documentation and communication skills.

• Workday Certifications (e.g., Workday Studio, Integration Specialist).
• Knowledge of Oracle (SQL, performance tuning) for downstream HR/Payroll data stores.
• Experience with vendor HR systems (benefits, payroll, timekeeping) and HR data standards.
• Practical experience authoring and supporting JCL jobs and mainframe batch processing.

Base Salary: $86,250.00 – $. Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
