Sourcing Specialist
This Sourcing Specialist role plays a critical part in the performance of the distribution center and in overall customer satisfaction. You will join a tight-knit supply chain team that supports multiple service centers, internal associates, and long-term customers. In this position, you actively manage purchasing activities, ensure product availability, and maintain high levels of productivity and accuracy within the supply chain function.
Responsibilities- Place purchase orders with vendors in a timely and accurate manner to ensure product availability.
- Source products that are not carried in the store by identifying appropriate suppliers and options.
- Reach out to a network of suppliers, request and evaluate quotes, and create new item numbers in SAP.
- Determine and set pricing for items based on supplier quotes and internal guidelines.
- Research, obtain, and compare quotes while negotiating prices and terms with vendors and suppliers.
- Communicate proactively with the sales team and customer service department regarding backorders and order status.
- Resolve inventory discrepancy issues by coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Help maintain accurate ERP system costs and item data within SAP.
- Develop strategies with vendors to lower costs on items and improve overall purchasing efficiency.
- Research and qualify alternate vendors to substitute products where needed to support supply continuity and cost savings.
- 1–3 years of purchasing, buyer, or procurement experience.
- Experience in supply chain, purchasing, and inventory-related activities.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems, with SAP experience considered highly valuable.
- Background in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong negotiation skills for pricing and terms with vendors and suppliers.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with sales, customer service, and vendor partners.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in handling purchase orders, pricing, and system data.
- Ambitious, hard-working, and hands-on approach to daily responsibilities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher is welcome; a bachelor's degree is a plus but not required when experience is well aligned.
- Experience working within a distribution center or similar supply chain setting.
- Ability to research and develop cost-saving strategies and alternative sourcing options.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where productivity and accuracy are key performance measures.
This role is fully onsite at a facility located in Strongsville within an industrial and distribution-focused environment. You will work closely with a collaborative supply chain team and interact regularly with sales, customer service, and vendor partners. The environment emphasizes productivity, accuracy, and hands-on involvement in daily operations, using SAP and Microsoft Office as core tools to manage purchasing and inventory activities.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Strongsville, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
