Material Handler

What is a Material Handler?

The Material Handler will perform routine activities involved in the storing, stocking and handling of materials, systems and products. This is a first shift position with hours from 7 am – 3:30 pm.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have recent experience in a material‑handling position within a manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
  • Visually inspect products to ensure they have not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.
  • Track inventory to prepare other documentation on a computer.
  • Effectively perform material‑handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using material‑handling equipment when necessary (e.g., lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts).
  • Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies and other devices when necessary.
  • Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals and products, and use of safety/rescue equipment.
  • Interact and communicate with employees at all levels within the company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, standards and rules.
  • Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area.
  • Show punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
  • Tow‑motor experience is preferred.
  • One year of related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a material‑handling department preferred.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to handle non‑routine, standard projects and tasks.
  • Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Able to read, write and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
Physical and Technical Environment
  • Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or available equipment.
  • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.
  • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
  • Overtime required at periodic intervals to meet project deadlines.
