Compensation and Benefits Coordinator
The Compensation and Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for employment compliance for the Center and will monitor all tasks necessary and advise the CPCO when changes need to occur. The Coordinator will act as the liaison between HR and Finance on all compensation and payroll issues including HR audits, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Building and managing the Compensation Plan, including annual evaluation and update of Salary Table.
- Conducting the annual review of staff compensation across the Center's job categories and pay grades and recommending adjustments to ensure parity and equity.
- Overseeing the job description process within The Center. (Staff, Volunteers, and Interns)
- Creating and/or revising job descriptions and conducting a job analysis to determine compensation grade.
- Overseeing the annual non-profit compensation surveys/inquiries (e.g., Fair Pay).
- HR oversight of the payroll component within the HRIS (Paylocity).
- Overall management of the Center's Time and Labor System (Paylocity).
Recruitment and Staffing responsibilities include:
- Managing the Center's Recruitment and Selection Program.
- Building a staffing plan based on management team decisions to support planned growth.
- Developing an onboarding and offboarding plan for the Center.
- Managing the onboarding and orientation program.
- Managing the Early Career Program.
- Overseeing and reviewing the job description development and analysis.
- Evaluating job classifications to ensure parity across job levels and compliance with state and federal labor codes.
- Approving job postings to ensure that they conform to EEO requirements.
- Facilitating hiring through internal channels and external recruiters.
- Coordinating or conducting initial screenings of applicants for specific open positions.
- Negotiating compensation; reviewing and approving offer letters.
HR Policy and Compliance responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and revising, when necessary, the Employee Handbook, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Administering the Center's employment policies and recommending appropriate enhancements or changes.
- Overseeing annual HR Audits.
- Developing and managing the annual Affirmative Action Plan.
- Maintaining current knowledge of and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour law.
Benefits responsibilities include:
- Primary back up for the Benefits.
- Participating in the annual benefits open enrollment process.
- Co-leading the 401K plan and annual audit.
Employee Relations responsibilities include:
- Primary backup for Employee Relations issues.
- Functioning as a trusted manager, capable of dealing with employee conflicts, complaints, reports of policy violations, harassment, or other such employee relations issues.
- Guiding and counseling managers dealing with employee performance issues to ensure that all grievances are heard, fully documented, and resolved.
Other Tasks as Assigned include:
- Performing special projects and research as assigned.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:
- Thorough knowledge of human resource management processes and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of employee relationship processes and practices.
- Current knowledge of state and federal employment regulations and compliance best practices.
- Thorough knowledge of payroll administration procedures and best practices.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations and compliance practices.
- Strong knowledge of managing and reporting on HRIS for payroll, benefits, HR, onboarding, and applicant tracking.
- Knowledge of benefits administration including medical, dental, vision, life, LTC, STD, LTD, FSA, EAP, and 401(k).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite).
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to support and participate in the Center's diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, initiatives, and trainings.
