About the Opportunity:
Pursuit Aerospace is a world-class manufacturer of complex components for the aerospace industry, specializing in high-precision CNC machining and advanced material processing. We are seeking a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician for our 3rd Shift to support our quality and engineering teams in ensuring the performance, safety, and compliance of critical aerospace components.
This is a hands-on, technically engaging role involving metallurgical testing, process evaluation, and lab operations. The successful candidate will contribute directly to production quality and continuous improvement and may also provide occasional backup support and guidance to lab support personnel, helping to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct microstructural analysis on gas turbine engine components including machined, brazed, welded, heat-treated, and thermally sprayed parts.
- Analyze materials such as stainless steel, titanium, and nickel-based superalloys.
- Prepare metallurgical samples (sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching) for microscopic examination.
- Perform hardness testing, EDM qualification analysis, and furnace uniformity surveys.
- Perform analyses of chemical processing and cleaning solution for composition and contamination.
- Evaluate supplier material/process certifications and compare against engineering specifications and blueprints.
- Maintain accurate documentation of lab test results and generate technical reports.
- Provide backup support to lab support personnel when needed.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to troubleshoot materials and process issues.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain clean, calibrated, and properly functioning lab equipment and instrumentation.
- Manage inventory of lab supplies and consumables.
- Adhere to AS9100, ISO
9001, and ISO
14001 quality management and environmental systems. - Follow all health and safety procedures in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Report hazards, equipment deficiencies, or unsafe practices to leadership.
- Contribute to internal and external audits through accurate and timely documentation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a metallurgical or materials testing laboratory.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
- College diploma or university degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline - or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
- Experience working in an aerospace, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgical sample preparation and microstructure analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Competent in using microscopes, hardness testers, and other laboratory instruments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Comfortable with computer-based documentation and lab report writing.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and data analysis.
- Knowledge of NADCAP requirements for special processes.
- Experience supporting quality audits and nonconformance investigations.
- Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is an asset.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring you to pivot and adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with team members, and supervisors.
- Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for fine sample preparation tasks.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during lab work.
- Comfortable using microscopes and lab tools for detailed, repetitive analysis.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policy.
