Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, care and feeding of marine organisms maintained in the facility, installing and cleaning seawater tanks and associated systems, seawater filtration equipment, seawater pumps pipelines and alarm systems.

Duties also include the interpretation of water chemistry data and adjusting filtration systems to maintain optimal water quality.

The position includes opportunities to assist in field collection of marine species, supporting educational tours to the public, and interacting with investigators and students.

Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Additional Information: Partial weekend hours and shared holiday coverage are a requirement of this position i.e., 4 hours each weekend day about once per month and one holiday.

The candidate must have basic knowledge of marine organisms and their requirements, as well as basic knowledge and experience with handling and husbandry of marine organisms.

Education/Experience Required: Preference will be given to applicants with two years undergraduate study in the field of biological or marine sciences. Preference will also be given to applicants with prior experience working with live marine organisms either in a laboratory or aquarium environment.

The working environment for this position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, work in tight places, and on ladders at low heights. Must have ability to physically withstand constant exposure to domestic fresh water and seawater, disinfecting chemicals, and marine animals and materials.
