Fish Health Consultant

Fish and other aquatic foods grown in and harvested from oceans, lakes, rivers and ponds provide income for more than 800 million people and provide 3.3 billion with 20% of their animal protein intake. Position Objective and Scope of Work

In order to support capacity for Aquatic Animal Health Management and Biosecurity in sub-Saharan Africa, World Fish seeks to hire a dynamic and highly qualified Fish Health Consultant under project funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development cooperation, Norad "Increased Sustainability in the Aquaculture Sector in Su-Saharan Africa (SSA), through Improved Aquatic Animal Health Management".

The Consultant will review the content of existing open access training modules developed previously by National/International organizations and others within the area of Aquatic Animal Health Management in order to determine improvement areas and topics needed to support the sector, including:

Field epidemiology,
Biosecurity,
Sampling and disease diagnostic methods,
Fish vaccination, etc.

The consultant will work closely with the project teams from World Fish and the Norwegian Veterinary Institute. Based on the gaps identified by the consultant, new materials under the above mentioned project will be developed.

Deliverables:

REPORT 1:
Critical review of existing "high quality", "scientifically sound" online materials (e.g. online courses, manuals/guidelines, short video/photos, Power Points presentations, audio recording etc.) related to the aforementioned topics on Aquatic Animal Health

Field Epidemiology
Biosecurity
Sampling and Disease Diagnostic methods
Fish Vaccination

REPORT 2:
Gap analysis listing materials needing improvement or missing on the above topics.

This report will provide guidance and recommendations to the project team for the development of new online training materials.

Repository of all existing online training materials for the topics listed above. These will include links to resources, i.e., PDF, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, images, video/audio files, etc.

Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD with extensive experience within the area of Aquatic Animal Health.
Previous experience with teaching, developing and designing training modules related to Aquatic Animal Health Management.

This opportunity is open for international consultant. The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience, and the most competitive proposal.

The interviews are expected to be held by late October 2022 and only shortlisted consultant will be notified and expected to attend the interview. The successful consultant should be available to commence the consultancy contract by early November 2022.
