Position: Ocean Career: FL Sea Grant Research Coordinator I

Research Program Manager

Apply analytical techniques to support research proposal review and selection processes. Maintain conformance with NOAA data management, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) guidelines, and National Sea Grant Program guidelines and processes for managing research competitions, including promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility (DEIJA).

Manage the program's active research portfolio. Ensure that research is selected and implemented in compliance with NOAA and National Sea Grant policies. Monitor project progress and performance with principal investigators. Participate in the National Sea Grant Research Coordinator's Network. Track research progress according to strategic performance goals and measures to communicate and evaluate program success.

Communications and Fiscal Interface:

Work with FSG's fiscal team to establish new projects, monitor extensions and archive project-related correspondence. Work with FSG's communication team to update and share information about funding opportunities and funded research projects on social media, including updating the faculty funding pages on the FSG website.

Expected Salary: $40,000 – $50,000

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree, especially in a field of study that complements the programs and/or functions of the Florida Sea Grant college program
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and the ability to summarize and visualize data.
  • Ability to learn and use new software, such as eSeaGrant.
  • A skillful communicator who can effectively liaise with program staff, faculty and FSG's research community.
  • Able to understand policy and apply it to daily operations under deadline conditions.
  • Ability to incorporate and support diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and accessibility (DEIJA) in research and foster DEIJA within competitive research programs and projects.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate meetings, with research peer reviewers and panels.
  • Capability to develop strategies and implement systems for recruiting and tracking research panels that meet DEIJA requirements.
  • Basic web copy (Word Press) and use of web survey design applications (Qualtrics).
