Mechanical Design Engineer

Advantage Technical is placing a direct-hire Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading scientific manufacturer in Sturbridge, MA specializing in advanced optical and fiber optic systems. You'll lead product development end-to-end, driving innovation in a technically demanding, high-precision environment.

What You'll Do (Job Duties)

• Lead product development from concept through validation and manufacturing transition
• Design mechanical systems, tooling, and equipment for precision optical applications
• Apply DFM/DFA principles and GD&T to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability
• Select materials and components to meet demanding technical and environmental requirements
• Conduct design reviews and manage verification and validation activities
• Maintain engineering documentation, BOMs, and change control
• Drive continuous improvement, including additive manufacturing methods
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
• Manage multiple project timelines and technical priorities simultaneously

What You Bring (Requirements and Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 5-10 years of design engineering experience
• Strong product development and project management background
• Advanced CAD proficiency;
  Autodesk Inventor experience preferred (training available)
• Deep understanding of GD&T and machining/manufacturing methods
