Duties include anthropometric and hematological data collection, diet assessment, nutrition risk assessment, and food package prescription. Counseling and education documentation and data entry, referrals to other health and social services and follow‑up education also done. Participates in planning, develop and evaluation of education materials and group education sessions, nutrition in‑services, outreach activities and nutrition policy.
I. Major Responsibilities- Demonstrates excellent counseling skill; introduces self, limits interruptions, ensures confidentiality, listens attentively, maintains eye contact and shows respect while avoiding imposing value judgments.
- Uses appropriate techniques when taking height/weight measurements and finger sticks for iron testing. Interprets results and explains accurately.
- Provides accurate and culturally appropriate nutrition counseling and materials, reviewing them correctly.
- Has participant select one objective for behavior change and shows a willingness to accept that goal.
- Prescribes appropriate food package and explains how to best utilize that package into their daily lives.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nutrition, food and nutrition, or nutrition registration with the American Dietetic Association desired.
Required:
- Demonstrates leadership and decision‑making capabilities, has good communication skills and has sensitivity to participant population.
Preferred:
- One year's experience in clinical or community nutrition preferred.
