Production Manager
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking a motivated and driven employee to oversee daily production, manage staff, ensure quality and safety compliance, and drive efficiency on the factory floor. Supporting employee development and fostering a team‑oriented environment. This is a second shift position with a Mon - Fri schedule of 4pm - 1am.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
3+ years in manufacturing leadership in progressive roles and/or 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):
- Knowledge of Fiber Optic Industry desirable
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and problem resolution skills
- Proficient in MS Office Excel, Word and Power Point;
Acute ability to understand and use data for continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manufacturing department walks every two hours per shift.
- Start and end of shift communications: what’s expected, how did it go
- Department tasks are being met and monitored, validating Fiber Path cleanliness, LIFO, reworks, expedite and engineering feedback.
- Prepares and delivers daily report.
- Decision making.
- Interviews manufacturing applicants.
- Work instruction and SPL updates as needed.
- Department supply procurement using the equipment engineering database requisition form procedure and approval process.
- Scheduling personnel to ensure efficient use of labor in support of all production scheduling requirements.
- The Supervisor is also required to manage vacation scheduling, ensure overtime is scheduled, if needed.
- Daily/weekly timecard updates and approvals.
- Ensuring all equipment is operated safely, efficiently and within all specified guidelines.
- Reviews and prepares Maintain‑X request if needed.
- Validating required PPE and clean room protocols are being followed.
- Attends and participates in Department Safety Meetings.
- Reviews and prepares and closes out safety reports.
- Immediate phone notification to appropriate personnel whenever accidents occur.
- Liaison for building evacuations, communicate to employees and emergency personnel.
- Liaison for power failure; following written guidelines and communication protocols.
- Calls in Support Staff or Trades when required.
- Issue disciplinary action when deemed necessary per company and plant policies.
- Communicates with Human Resources and Production Manager on matters of employee discipline, performance, vacations, attendance, and policy related matters.
- Other duties.
Hiring Range: $75,000 - $90,000
Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications and internal equity considerations.
