Job TitleVehicle Design Coordinator
Job DescriptionEnsures successful development and launch success for multiple projects related to core business orders, utilizing a gated development process and project management tools. Coordinate Engineering efforts between Morgan Olson and JBPCO Shared Services.
Essential Functions and Activities- Uses engineering tools to analyze designs to meet requirements for strength, functionality, ergonomics, safety and quality.
- Complete product development and maintenance as required by using NPD gated process.
- Process manual orders and configured orders
- Disseminate Design Specifications for projects/tasks to the Shared Services team.
- Participate in Design Reviews to ensure 3D design meets Sales and Engineering Requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to external and internal suppliers
- Lead efforts to complete layouts, prepare drawings and assist in creation of bills of material and Engineering Change Orders as required to support the project schedules
- Identify any long-lead time purchased parts
- Participate in the contract reviews, Scoping, PIE (Project Initiation Event) and other internal activities
- Lead Verification of the chassis, pilot builds and pilot reviews
- Work with manufacturing engineers to resolve design issues of vehicles in manufacturing
- Utilizes CAD/modelling software for projects as required
- Build and maintain the project schedule
- Produce and implement designs and test procedures and presents those designs to managers and clients.
- Assist in testing, evaluation, modifications and re-testing of products
- Participate in standardization efforts of vehicle designs
- Work with Sales to quote vehicles that are appropriate and profitable to Morgan Olson
- Participate in scoping of the resources and evaluation of the technical feasibility of a proposed vehicle
- Adheres to Quality and Safety policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activities.
- Performs other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
- Problem-solving skills using various techniques and tools such as A3, 8D or similar
- Excellent Program Management skills
- Experience managing remote teams
- Proven ability to navigate and modify components and assemblies within 3D CAD software.
- Good Interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fundamental knowledge of Solid Works and PDM, DFMEA, FEA, DVP&R and similar.
- Ability to work in a Team oriented environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
- Proven track record of large projects management on time and on budget
- Requires skills in product design, stress analysis and strength of materials.
