Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume plastics manufacturing facility by performing troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair on industrial machinery and facilities equipment. This multi-craft role works on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including blow molding and injection molding equipment, to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation across the plant.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all manufacturing equipment, including plastic blow molding, injection molding, and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform both preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance on industrial machinery and facilities equipment.
- Analyze machine performance and use root cause analysis to identify, diagnose, and correct equipment issues.
- Understand and perform operational processes on machines to ensure optimal efficiency and uptime.
- Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics and mechanical blueprints to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Mechanically troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chains, bearings, bushings, valves, tooling heads, fixtures, blades, dryers, and related components.
- Work with electrical systems up to 480 volts, including AC/DC motors and three-phase motors, and perform wiring and rewiring of electrical components.
- Operate, understand, and transfer knowledge of all machinery and equipment to support production and maintenance needs.
- Use HMIs and PLCs to assist with troubleshooting and resolving control system issues.
- Promote and enforce safety by ensuring all electrical and mechanical guards and other safety devices are in place and functioning properly, and by following lockout/tagout and plant safety procedures.
- Promote quality manufacturing by ensuring all required quality tests, inspections, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks and work orders within required time frames.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in accordance with 5S+1 standards.
- Share knowledge and train others by teaching mechanical and maintenance concepts to teammates.
- Communicate equipment status, issues, and completed work clearly to supervisors, operators, and fellow maintenance personnel.
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance.
- Proficiency in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of systems up to 480 volts, including three-phase motors and AC/DC motors.
- Ability to perform wiring and rewiring of electrical components and industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial machinery operation.
- Ability to operate, understand, and transfer knowledge of all machinery and equipment used in the facility.
- Strong reading, mathematical, and communication skills to support documentation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Experience working safely with lockout/tagout procedures and plant safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic understanding of PLC-controlled systems.
- Hands-on experience with plastics manufacturing, particularly injection molding and blow molding processes.
- Trade school education or technical training in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance disciplines.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance repair practices.
- Familiarity with three-phase power systems and industrial control circuits.
- Welding experience is preferred and considered a plus.
- Experience working with HMIs and industrial automation equipment.
- Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of tooling heads, fixtures, blades, dryers, and related production equipment.
