American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a long-term care unit requiring 1+ year of experience and current LPN licensure (license required if applicable).
Requirements- Current LPN license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Current BLS certification required
- Skilled in tube feeds, ostomy care, dressing/wound care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
- Long-term care experience preferred
- Must be willing to undergo COVID testing twice weekly per facility policy
- No artificial nails permitted
- Long-term care/rehab and skilled nursing facility with 52 beds
- Patient population includes stable long-term care residents, dementia patients, and comfort care/hospice patients in collaboration with visiting hospice RNs
- No memory care unit; no tracheostomy or ventilator patients; occasional feeding tubes, IVs, and catheter care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:25-30 with two nurses per shift (RN/LPN or LPN/LPN combination)
- Uses Point Click Care charting system; nurses may also reference Epic (EPIC Care Link) for information
- May float between two nursing units
- 12-hour variable shifts based on contracted schedule (days or nights), with flexibility to switch shifts as needed
- Weekend rotation required, minimum every other weekend
- No on-call requirement
- Responsibilities include medication administration, wound care, IV starts, tube feeding, ostomy care, and collaboration with hospice RNs for comfort care patients
- Support structure includes on-call charge nurse supervisors, hospitalist rounding twice weekly, and connection to the ED for rapid response
- Orientation includes two shifts (one per unit) plus additional facility education offerings
- Expected to work 2 of 4 major holidays
- Up to 7 days of unapproved time off allowed; contract extension required if a full work week is missed; no time off permitted during the first three weeks of August due to a local event
- Scrub color requirements: ceil blue top with black pants for nurses
- Free parking available on site
- During snow conditions, staff may be required to stay at the facility, with pay provided for that time
- First-time travelers considered if they have long-term care experience
- Previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers must live at least 100 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
