Adjunct Faculty – Social Work (UMGC Europe)

Locations:
Stuttgart, Germany

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in Germany in the Social Work program. This is a field‑focused, practice‑based role supporting students in their field placements. Responsibilities include experiential instruction, supervision support, and applied mentorship tied to CSWE field education outcomes, rather than traditional classroom‑based course instruction.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning and an active LCSW.
  • At least two years post‑master’s professional experience in the Social Work field.
  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education (strongly preferred).
  • Local applicants only. Adjunct faculty positions do not receive UMGC sponsored logistical support and applicants must have and maintain legal status in the country in which they apply.

Responsibilities
  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
The Social Work Program at UMGC

The social work program is a CSWE accredited program offered by Salisbury University and administered by UMGC Europe. Faculty are approved by Salisbury University and hired by UMGC Europe. Faculty teach in both face‑to‑face and online environments using Canvas Learning Management System.

Each new faculty member is required to complete our online new faculty orientation, Fac Dev
122, as a condition of hire.

Position Availability

Salary

Salary commensurate with experience.

Hiring Range by Degree

Non‑PhD:
Step 1 $ 903 – Step 16 $ 1,173 per credit hour
PhD:
Step 1 $ 931 – Step 16 $ 1,215 per credit hour
