Job Description
The Crew Foreman supervises and coordinates production and warehouse crews to ensure safe, efficient, and effective daily operations. Supports rice flow and packaging operations by monitoring production, coordinating precise equipment setups and changeovers, and addressing routine equipment and maintenance needs to minimize downtime and maintain production output. Performs maintenance and general repairs that do not require additional personnel and provides direction and instruction to operators in performing routine operator maintenance on equipment.
Ensures all production and maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with applicable workplace safety requirements, HARPC, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company policies and procedures.
Job Duties
• Supervise and coordinate production and warehouse crews to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent daily operations.
• Maintain proficiency in all required Specialty Plant operations and duties through cross-training, including forklift operation, cycle counting, material handling, and other production and warehouse functions.
• Monitor rice flow and packaging operations and identify conditions that may affect production output, efficiency, product quality, or equipment performance.
• Perform accurate equipment setups and changeovers to ensure packaging equipment is properly configured and ready for the next production run.
• Inspect and evaluate maintenance needs within the department and communicate priorities to the appropriate maintenance personnel.
• Perform maintenance and general repair work that can be completed safely and effectively without additional crewing and for which the Crew Foreman is trained and qualified.
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks and assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Direct and instruct operators in the proper performance of routine operator maintenance and equipment care.
• Oversee the progress and completion of scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and in a timely manner.
• Works with the Maintenance Manager and Department Manager to prioritize maintenance projects and address equipment issues that may impact production.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and determine when additional technical support is required. Contact and coordinate with Packaging Maintenance Technicians when a repair or equipment issue exceeds normal maintenance requirements or the Crew Foreman's training and qualifications.
• Serve as a key resource during changeovers, equipment startups, and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain production output.
• Monitor equipment and production performance and take appropriate action to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
• Maintain local tool room inventory and ensure tools and equipment are properly secured, maintained, and available for use.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work performed to support proper cost assignment and maintenance records.
• Ensure all production and maintenance activities are performed in compliance with company safety rules, GMPs, HACCP/HARPC requirements, and other applicable policies and regulations.
• Promote safe work practices and maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Education
High school diploma or GED is preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
