The Account Manager II (AM) is responsible for delivering on sales and profitability quota targets, exceeding organizational KPI’s, and retaining and penetrating business essentials and growth category sales in existing locations of assigned large and enterprise‑sized accounts within a defined geographic territory. The AM serves as the primary contact for buyers and works with Growth Category Specialists, Customer Service, and other resources to manage and grow day‑to‑day customer relationships, driving increased compliance and sales across their portfolio.
Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day relationships with customers by developing relationships with key contacts/buyers.
- Active field work, exceeding all customer‑facing (in‑person) KPIs.
- Identify and build relationships to penetrate deeper into Staples Professional key categories of Business Essentials and Growth Categories.
- Develop short‑term and long‑term sales retention and penetration strategies, managing funnel activity and all customer‑facing activity in the CRM.
- Execute prescriptive selling opportunities, including sales plays, customer‑facing activity, sales meetings, and customer marketing opportunities.
- Coordinate account servicing and fulfillment with support from Customer Service.
- Introduce, promote, and educate customers on Staples Professional’s growth categories.
- Increase market share within the portfolio by penetrating Growth Categories and reactivating assigned inactive and dormant accounts.
- Completion of college/university.
- Valid driver license and car.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to navigate systems including CRM (SFDC), Staples proprietary systems (Alpha), and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong understanding of sales processes and ability to work in a team sales environment.
- Sales or account management experience preferred.
- Experience with a CRM tool such as SFDC preferred.
