Camp Sewataro is seeking an organized, creative, and people-centered leader to join our Program Team as the Assistant Program Supervisor. This role is ideal for an experienced camp professional who enjoys supporting staff, strengthening activity programming, and helping ensure camp runs smoothly each day.
The Assistant Program Supervisor works closely with the Program Supervisor to oversee daily camp activities, mentor activity counselors, and bring innovation and strong administrative support to the program areas, with a special focus on arts-based and creative activities.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership and Daily Operations- Support the smooth daily operation of all camp activities
- Help ensure each activity meets program goals of fun, safety, inclusion, and camper growth
- Build strong relationships with program staff and provide ongoing mentorship
- Oversee, motivate, and advise activity counselors
- Provide coaching and creative enhancements to activity plans and syllabi
- Assist with counselor feedback, evaluations, and professional development
- Spend significant time in activity areas observing instruction and supporting staff
- Bring creativity and innovation into specialty and arts-based program areas
- Collaborate on Friday Special Events with attention to age-appropriate differentiation
- Support four major camp events throughout the summer, including Staff Overday
- This is an active camp leadership role requiring sustained standing, walking, and running throughout the day on varied outdoor terrain, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Current CPR certification
Camp Sewataro will cover the cost of CPR certification for hired candidates who do not currently hold it.
Preferred Qualifications- Training, certification, or significant experience in arts-based or creative camp activities
- Experience in teaching, classroom leadership, or group management
- Familiarity with a wide range of camp activities
- At least 2 years on a summer camp staff or in a similar youth leadership role
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Natural initiative and ability to see the “big picture” of camp operations
