Position
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Radar Mechanical Design Department
Security ClearanceU.S. citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities- Lead mechanical hardware design for ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, electronics packaging and array integration.
- Develop technical solutions throughout product lifecycle – proposal, design, manufacture, integration, and test for phased array radars and related electronics.
- Create mechanical outline, construction details, component selection, specification, and complete technical data package including mechanical, assembly, and electrical/RF layout.
- Perform tolerance and design‑to‑production practices; conduct complex tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function.
- Prepare proposal inputs and technical concepts, ensuring compliance with standards and removing roadblocks.
- Work independently with limited supervision; meet schedule, cost, and technical goals.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, operations, systems, quality, and program offices; interact with senior personnel and occasional external customers on technical matters.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM field with minimum 5 years of relevant experience OR advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.
- Minimum 3 years in design of radar architecture or electronics packaging for military, aerospace, or commercial applications.
- Proficiency with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T in practice.
- Experience in mechanical drawing creation for military hardware.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and engineering analysis ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of design and manufacturing processes for electronics assemblies, metal housings, and structural components.
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards and technical data package creation.
- Knowledge of first‑order structural analysis techniques.
- Experience in design‑to‑military and commercial standards.
- Leadership of small development teams.
- Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
- Awareness of machine supplier capabilities and manufacturing and assembly producibility.
- Material selection expertise for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, and environmental considerations.
On‑site at Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.
