Principal Digital Electrical Engineer
Location:
Marlbrough, MA (Boston area). This is an onsite role requiring U.S. citizenship and a Secret-level DoD security clearance. The position is managed by Collins Aerospace, an RTX company.
The Principal Digital Electrical Engineer is responsible for the complete digital design of printed wiring boards (PCBs) from inception through layout, assembly, and verification. The engineer coordinates with cross‑disciplinary teams (Layout, Systems, Mechanical, Test, FPGA, and Software) and ensures requirements are met at every stage.
Responsibilities- Design digital circuit cards from inception through layout and assembly.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure requirements are met at every level of design.
- Work with ECAD designers to generate full databases and drawings for PWB/CCAs.
- Perform design analyses (timing, power, signal integrity).
- Perform design verification and troubleshooting.
- Produce and present design documentation.
- Conduct trade studies and create comprehensive design documentation including test requirements and design memos.
- Proficient in digital CCA design (parts selection, schematic capture, library management, parts lists).
- Proficient in PCB design (stack‑up, plane/routing rules, placement, constraints, DRC).
- Proficient in artwork validation (ODB++) and creation of PWB/CCA drawing sets.
- Proficient in design verification/analysis (timing, power, signal integrity, bench‑level testing).
- Experience developing digital/mixed‑signal high‑speed circuit card assemblies (CCA).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Proficiency with Siemens Xpedition Design Tools.
- Understanding of IPC, IEEE, and MIL standards for PCB design and fabrication.
- Proficiency with analog and mixed‑signal circuits.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
