Position Summary
Raytheon is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support radar development programs.
Security ClearanceThis role requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret Security Clearance.
What You Will Do- Utilize mechanical hardware design experience with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, RF and electronics packaging.
- Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle, including proposal, design, manufacture, integration, and test of phased‑array radars and electronics for multiple military programs.
- Employ transition‑to‑production practices and lead a design release into production.
- Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals while enhancing daily work.
- Provide technical conscience, ensuring products and processes meet applicable standards and requirements.
- Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function as intended by design for the intended application.
- Interact frequently with senior personnel on technical matters, often coordinating between organizations.
- Required: Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years experience.
- Experience with design of radar architecture, structures, cooling or electronics packaging for military, aerospace, or commercial applications.
- Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
- Preferred: Mechanical background with high technical aptitude.
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards and technical data package creation.
- Experience designing for military, ruggedized or commercial standards.
- Experience leading small development efforts and teams.
- Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
- Knowledge of machine suppliers’ capabilities or direct experience in manufacturing/assembly support for producibility.
- Leadership skills and project management experience.
- Experience selecting materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations including corrosion mitigation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competitive salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
