The Controls Engineer will serve as a critical technical resource, bridging CNC machines, robotic systems, and third‑party integrated equipment through control logic, communication infrastructure, and system validation. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on work, solving complex automation challenges, and collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complete electrical control schematics for custom automation cells and standard machinery using CAD software.
  • Create, program, and modify industrial control logic, including ladder logic, to manage machine communication, I/O systems, and integrated equipment.
  • Design and configure electrical hardware systems, including safety circuits, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, software, and hardware issues during system build, debug, installation, and commissioning.
  • Support in‑house system validation and assist with customer‑site start‑up and integration activities.
  • Travel to customer facilities to provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and service support.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, machinists, and external automation partners to ensure successful system integration.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, component specifications, and control descriptions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to automation performance and system reliability.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting industrial control systems, automation equipment, or machine systems.
  • Strong proficiency with electrical schematic design and CAD drafting.

  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet.
  • Ability to read, interpret, modify, and create engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical standards and safety requirements (NFPA 79 experience preferred).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CNC machine integration, robotic automation, or custom machinery.
  • Familiarity with FANUC robots or similar robotic systems.
  • Experience supporting equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites.
  • Certifications such as ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) are a plus.
  • Travel Requirements:
Approximately 25% domestic travel to customer sites

If you are a hands‑on Controls Engineer who enjoys designing, troubleshooting, and commissioning innovative automation systems, this is an opportunity to make a direct impact on advanced manufacturing technology.
