Position Summary
Cambrian College’s IT Client Services has an immediate requirement for an IT Technician on leave replacement basis. This role will work at the Information Technology Service Desk, in classrooms or offices, and at remote campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide support for the technologies of Cambrian’s desktop/laptop environments, which requires knowledge of the hardware and software used in these environments.
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot IT equipment and software, along with AV equipment.
- Provide direct support for support staff, faculty, administration, students, and external clients.
- Assist with the purchasing of IT assets.
- Plan and execute the support of A/V set-ups for internal and external clients.
- Maintain documentation and incident information using an ITSM tool.
- Assist in coordinating part‑time staff and students supporting the environment.
- Actively participate in special project activities.
- Support external clients and remote event participants (faculty, staff, and students who are offsite).
- Three‑year diploma or degree in Information Technology along with one of the following certifications:
CompTIA A+ Certification, CISCO IT Essentials, or ITIL Certification. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application; education completed outside of Canada requires a WES or ICAS equivalence.) - Two years of experience in the operation, use, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PC‑based microcomputer hardware and related IT equipment and AV equipment;
Windows, Mac OS X, Server, and Mobile‑based operating systems and the software used on these systems; servers and workstations in a large enterprise server/workstation environment;
Helpdesk environments;
Network infrastructures; and centralized administration of laptops and desktops. - Highly motivated professional with excellent interpersonal, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Talent to work independently and within a team environment.
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License.
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Desktop Support Technician, Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP), and other technology‑related training are assets.

- Copy of CompTIA A+, CISCO IT Essentials, and/or ITIL Certification.
