Position: SPY-6 Jira Administrator

What You Will Do

  • User Management:
    Managing user accounts and permissions, including handling onboarding and offboarding to EIM/AD groups.
  • Consistency Across Jira Projects:
    Ensuring alignment and standardization across all Jira projects, both unclassified and on the Information System (IS).
  • System Maintenance:
    Regular maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and Support:
    Providing direct user support, answering questions, resolving issues, and offering training as needed or requested.
  • Workflow Customization:
    Designing, implementing, and maintaining workflows, permissions, and project structures to meet SPY-6 specific requirements.
  • Integration with Other Tools:
    Managing integrations with other tools, such as Confluence, Git Lab, and others.
  • Customizations and Enhancements:
    Implementing necessary customizations and addressing enhancement requests to improve system functionality including use of plugins:
    Structure, Project Configurator, Script Runner, JSU Automation.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    Creating and maintaining dashboards, reports, and queries to meet reporting needs, gather metrics, and provide actionable insights.
  • Data Transfer Agent:
    Facilitate data transfers to and from Information Systems (ISs).
  • Documentation:
    Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and user guides.
  • System Monitoring:
    Monitoring system performance and usage to proactively address potential issues.
  • Scripting:
    Creating and maintaining scripts to automate processes or enhance functionality where needed.
  • Refactoring:
    When approved, refactor current implementations that don’t adhere to our development best practices.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Jira Administrator experience in configuring workflows, permissions and issue types to meet specific project requirements.
  • Experience with Jira automation features, including scripting languages like Groovy (for Script Runner) or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Jira Dashboards and Structure plugin.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum principles to support workflows and team processes in Jira.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. Government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Atlassian certification for Jira Administration preferred.
  • Analytical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve problems in Jira configurations or integrations.
  • Experience managing multiple Jira instances, especially in complex environments.
  • Understanding of project management principles to align Jira configurations with organizational goals.
  • Understanding Agile/Scrum principles to configure Jira projects and workflows that support iterative development.
  • Ability to adjust Jira to match the needs of Agile teams (e.g., sprints, kanban boards, backlog grooming).
  • Ability to create and manage custom scripts and automation rules to enhance Jira functionality.
  • Experience integrating Jira with other tools (e.g., Confluence, Jenkins, Git Lab).
  • A quick thinker who can handle high-pressure scenarios and deliver results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
  • Willingness to work closely with cross‑functional teams, including developers, project managers, and system administrators.
