- Schedule:
Full time, 36.25 hours per week on first shift, Monday through Friday; specific hours may vary by District and facility. - Training:
Paid 14-week hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development in Cheshire, CT. This is a hazardous duty position. - Career Trajectory & Pay:
One year trainee period at pay grade CO 05 ($48,814/year); after successful completion, promoted to Operator at CO 07 ($53,681/year). - Location:
Commissary Operations managed through Districts; candidates may be assigned to multiple facilities.
- Inventory control: identify depleted and slow-moving stock, inspect goods for damage and compliance, initiate purchase orders, and monitor stock price changes.
- Scanning/sales: arrange and distribute order slips, verify balances, scan orders into data system, coordinate deliveries, and work with inmate program participants.
- Security: develop security precautions to protect stock, monitor inmate participants, prevent contraband, and stop disturbances.
- Supervision: train and develop job skills with inmates, supervise participants, and report on inmate behavior.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of experience in commissary or retail merchandising, wholesale sales or warehouse operation. - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:
College training may be substituted for General Experience (15 semester hours = 1/2 year, up to 2 years). - Experience as a Correction Officer may be substituted for General Experience, up to 2 years on a year-for-year basis.
