I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out regarding a Locum Dentist opportunity with the Connecticut Department of Correction in Suffield, Connecticut.
This is a full-time opportunity to provide comprehensive dental care to an underserved patient population while working within a collaborative correctional healthcare environment.
Position OverviewPosition: Dentist (DDS/DMD)
Location: Correctional Institution

Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (1099)
Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
Contract Length: 13 weeks with potential extension
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
On-Call Requirements: None
The Dentist will provide comprehensive dental services to the incarcerated offender population, including:
- Conducting dental examinations and evaluations
- Diagnosing and treating oral health conditions and diseases
- Developing patient treatment plans
- Providing preventive and restorative dental care
- Performing operative and prosthetic dentistry procedures
- Extractions (Exodontia)
- Periodontal treatments
- Radiology and prophylaxis services
- Prescribing and administering medications as appropriate
- Responding to dental emergencies
- Ordering laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
- Collaborating with physicians regarding oral health conditions affecting overall patient health
- Educating patients and staff on proper oral hygiene and preventive care
Average Patient Volume: 4 to 10 patients per day
Minimum Qualifications- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree
- Active Connecticut dental license in good standing
- DEA certification
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum one year of dental experience preferred
- Correctional dentistry experience preferred
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Ability to meet all facility credentialing requirements
- Consistent Monday through Friday schedule
- No call responsibilities
