Correctional Medicine Physician

I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out regarding a Locum Dentist opportunity with the Connecticut Department of Correction in Suffield, Connecticut.

This is a full-time opportunity to provide comprehensive dental care to an underserved patient population while working within a collaborative correctional healthcare environment.

Position: Dentist (DDS/DMD)
Location: Correctional Institution

Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (1099)
Start Date: ASAP upon credentialing
Contract Length: 13 weeks with potential extension
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
On-Call Requirements: None

The Dentist will provide comprehensive dental services to the incarcerated offender population, including:

• Conducting dental examinations and evaluations
• Diagnosing and treating oral health conditions and diseases
• Developing patient treatment plans
• Providing preventive and restorative dental care
• Performing operative and prosthetic dentistry procedures
• Extractions (Exodontia)
• Periodontal treatments
• Radiology and prophylaxis services
• Prescribing and administering medications as appropriate
• Responding to dental emergencies
• Ordering laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
• Collaborating with physicians regarding oral health conditions affecting overall patient health
• Educating patients and staff on proper oral hygiene and preventive care

Average Patient Volume: 4 to 10 patients per day

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree
• Active Connecticut dental license in good standing
• DEA certification
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum one year of dental experience preferred
• Correctional dentistry experience preferred
• Current CPR certification (if applicable)
• Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Ability to meet all facility credentialing requirements
