Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree and/or Masters in the content area
• Must possess or be eligible for one of the following CTSDE Certifications
  • (165/065) Comprehensive Special Education, K-12

Salary: Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Suffield Educators Association.

Period of Employment: Accepting applications for those looking to begin at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.

Reports to: Building Administrator/Special Education Supervisor

Position Expectations:

• Design instruction to meet students' academic and social/emotional needs
• Integrate emotional and behavioral support into daily instruction
• Use trauma informed and positive behavioral strategies to foster growth
• Maintain a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment
• Administer, analyze and interpret comprehensive academic evaluations
• Write accurate and thorough assessment reports, IEP's and progress reports.
• Positively engage teachers, students and families in the learning process.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve learning for all students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special education regulations and guidelines.
• Demonstrate ability to assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed.
