Candidate should hold a Bachelors/Associate's degree or 2 years of college credit or pass a State Board of Education adopted paraprofessional assessment, which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics.

Communicate effectively with the educational team so student needs are supported. Communicate in culturally respectful and sensitive ways with students and families. Work cooperatively with other team members to improve the instructional program. Effectively use computer and technology to support effective instruction and student learning. Evaluate and differentiate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs. Work under the direct supervision of and confer with, a variety of certified staff member: classroom teachers, specialist and administrators.

Perform other tasks directly supporting the learning process of students, as designed by the certified staff.
