Production Scheduler

The Production Scheduler prepares and manages daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer demand and production plans. This role coordinates closely with production, planning, customer service, shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams to ensure materials and work-in-progress move smoothly through the facility. The Production Scheduler uses computer-based MRP and ERP systems to create job travelers, monitor schedule adherence, and support efficient, on-time production.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand and overall production plans.
  • Create and print job travelers for the shop floor and ensure operations follow the correct sequence.
  • Monitor adherence to production schedules and initiate recovery actions when deviations occur.
  • Communicate schedule changes, risks, and recovery plans with Planning and Customer Service teams.
  • Track work-in-progress (WIP) and ensure a smooth flow of materials between processes and work centers.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors and operators to execute the production schedule effectively.
  • Ensure the availability of raw materials required to meet scheduled production.
  • Collaborate with shipping, receiving, and warehouse teams to align material movement with production needs.
  • Use ERP and MRP systems to plan, update, and maintain accurate production and material data.
  • Support continuous improvement of scheduling and material flow processes to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in production scheduling or schedule planning in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficiency using computers to manage schedules and production data.
  • Ability to work with MRP systems to plan and track materials and production requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for coordinating production, inventory, and order information.
  • Understanding of shipping, receiving, warehouse, and order selection processes.
  • Ability to coordinate pick and pack activities in alignment with production and shipping schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with production, planning, customer service, and warehouse teams.
  • Attention to detail when creating, sequencing, and distributing job travelers to the shop floor.

Environment

This role is based in a large production facility with approximately 110 permanent employees working across three shifts. You will work closely with shop floor personnel, supervisors, and office-based staff in a dynamic, operations-focused environment. The facility uses computer-based MRP and ERP systems to manage production and materials. The dress code allows jeans and T-shirts, providing a comfortable and practical attire for daily work;

once you become a permanent employee, you will receive a company uniform. The multi-shift operation may require coordination across different shifts and departments to keep production flowing smoothly.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
