IAD Customer Service - Baggage Drop Agent

Shift
  • 04:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Responsibilities

Verifies government‑issued identification, issues passenger baggage tags, and moves baggage to the client conveyor belt system. Assists passengers with general questions about direction, terminal services, and wheelchair access.

  • Meet and greet airline customers in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Move stanchions for optimal line queue management.
  • Verify government‑issued photo identification to ensure authorized access.
  • Issue customer baggage tags and place them on checked baggage.
  • Move tagged baggage to the client conveyor belt system.
  • Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards; adhere to hazardous materials handling requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of customer service or similar work experience.
Physical Demands
  • May be required to stand and walk for two‑thirds or more of the shift.
  • May need to talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel for two‑thirds or more of the shift.
  • May be required to lift 75 pounds or more periodically for up to two‑thirds of the shift.
Work Environment
  • Moderate noise level.
Language Skills
  • Effective communication in English.
  • Reading and interpreting documents such as government‑issued , safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and employee handbooks.
  • Presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
General Company Requirements
  • Comply with uniform and grooming standards; wear SIDA badge/Airport  all times.
  • Comply with ABM Aviation’s Employee Handbook policies, including Zero‑Tolerance Discrimination and Harassment, Retaliation, Ethics, and Security policies.
Experience
  • Previous airport, baggage handling, warehouse, or porter experience preferred.
Overall

Job Requirements
  • Must be willing to work on assigned schedule, which includes weekends.
  • Must meet all requirements for receiving the required airport SIDA badge and Customs seal (if applicable), including a successful background check and ten‑year work history.
