The purpose of this job is to assist, implement, and supervise recreational programs and activities for youth and adults and special events; responsible for providing safe and enjoyable recreational experiences.
This position works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities- Monitors facilities during private events, recreational programs, special events, and athletic practices.
- Provides customer service; interacts with the general public to assess community interests and needs.
- Works with part time staff; investigates complaints and resolves problems.
- Assists with countywide recreational programs and special events; orders equipment, materials and supplies; reserves venues; arranges and staffs.
- Facilitates athletic game day operations.
- Processes routine documents such as registration forms and usage permits.
- Performs general maintenance when necessary.
- Performs routine office duties, such as preparing, faxing and copying documents and answering phones.
- Assists with facilitating the organization of programs and activities and subsequent cleanup of activities.
- Maintains attendance records, rosters, and reports pertaining to recreation facilities and events.
- Collects fees and prepares receipts and assures proper handling of funds.
- Registers participants using the Active Net software.
- Performs general administrative tasks to include handling inquiries and complaints, answering the telephone; preparing correspondence, and other general office functions.
- Performs related work as required.
- Education:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. - Experience:
One (1) year of recreation experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possession of first aid, CPR, and AED certifications within six months of employment.
Physical DemandsMedium Work – Involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
