An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision supporting pupils who have struggled to thrive in traditional educational settings.

At The School we believe in making a crucial difference to the lives of young people. Through strong partnerships with local authorities, we support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
, helping them re-engage with education and build confidence in a safe, structured environment. Each pupil is carefully assessed on entry, allowing staff to deliver tailored support plans that enable long-term progress and success.

The Role
  • Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with SEMH needs
  • Working closely with teaching staff to support learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support
  • Helping pupils access learning, routines, and positive transitions
  • Supporting pupils who may be disengaged from education or returning after time out of school
Contract & Pay
  • Temp to perm role
  • £90 per day during the initial 12-week probation period
  • Permanent salary of £25,000 per annum following successful probation
  • Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:45pm
  • Term time only
Training & Development
  • Opportunity to achieve Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications
  • Ongoing professional development within a supportive specialist setting
The Ideal Candidate
  • Passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs
  • Drivers only
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional support
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Experience in SEN, SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils re-engage with education
