The Education & Community Outreach Manager is responsible for administering all site-based and community-based education and outreach programs. Accordingly, the Education & Community Outreach Manager provides vision, leadership, organization, and administration for all aspects of the Suffolk Center’s education and community outreach programming, including planning, organizing, staffing, and directing of all adult and youth program activities. In Cooperation with the Creative Director and other team members, the Education & Community Outreach Manager performs a wide range of duties, including but not limited to the following:
- Plan, market, and administer on-site Adult and Youth Art Education Programs
- Plan the overall adult art education program and activities in accordance with the Center’s mission and goals.
- Plan, organize and administer the various youth-oriented programs that bring area youth to the Center and/or take the arts to our area youth. The Center conducts many of these programs in partnership with area schools and youth organizations.
- Develop policies, procedures, and protocols for the adult and youth education program, its participants, and its instructors, with an emphasis on safety, quality of programming, best management practices, and financial sustainability.
- Recruit, interview, and select well-qualified education program instructors that fit the goal of the Center.
- Develop and post program offerings in coordination with Marketing Manager
- Coordinate the delivery of services and communication among different program activities and stakeholders to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure the education programs and activities operate within the Center’s policies and procedures, and follow all policies that concern working with youth
- Assess the strengths of the adult education programs, and identify areas for improvement, based on participant and community feedback, evaluation of instructors, registration numbers, and financial metrics.
- Help develop and adhere to an annual budget and operating plan to support the education programs.
- Supervise education program instructors and volunteers by providing direction, input, and feedback.
- Communicate with participants and other stakeholders to gain community support for the adult education programs and to solicit input to improve the program.
- Develop and Maintain Partnerships with the leadership and relevant contacts in our Area Schools and youth organizations
- Assist the Creative Director in developing funding proposals for the education programs to ensure the continuous delivery of these services.
- Work with community partners and engage new partners to bring new and diverse populations into the Center.
- Work with marketing staff to develop and distribute promotional materials for programs.
- Develop and use forms and records to document education programs and activities.
- Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the participants of the education programs for statistical purposes.
- Ensure that personnel files for the education programs are properly maintained and all confidentially requirements are maintained.
- Establish and implement an evaluation process for all education programs.
- Write reports on the education programs for management and for funders.
- Engage and manage volunteers for appropriate program activities.
- Other duties as assigned
- Familiarity with and proven experience in arts education programming, including a background in teaching or training adults and/or youth through workshops or seminars, or background in coordinating and implementing such workshops and seminars.
- Background in community engagement programming and implementation.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage a hectic calendar and oversee event details.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and act as on-site manager at the facility during educational programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth and adults from diverse populations.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
