Position: Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Suffolk, Virginia
Empower students to achieve their fullest potential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a contract role supporting learners across grades K-12. This engaging opportunity is based near Suffolk, VA and involves providing essential itinerant services to approximately 20 students throughout the district. You'll collaborate seamlessly with an experienced virtual TVI and contribute to an inclusive, highly supportive educational environment.

Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia Department of Education License with endorsement for Visually Impaired Students
• A minimum of 2 years of recent teaching experience in visual impairment education
• Proven ability to write, execute, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborative spirit and experience working with related services professionals
• Strong communication skills and organizational capabilities to manage a diverse caseload
• Flexibility to travel within the district to deliver services in multiple school settings

What You'll Do:

• Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to K-12 students with visual impairments
• Assess student needs and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual learning goals
• Develop, review, and implement IEPs while maintaining thorough documentation
• Build effective partnerships with classroom teachers, related service staff, and families
• Utilize technology and assistive devices to enhance student engagement and access
• Coordinate with the district's virtual TVI and participate in collaborative planning
• Remain current on best practices and legal requirements in visual impairment education
