POSITION TITLE
2321 IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION MONITOR
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
Performs responsible paraprofessional work monitoring the behavior of students assigned to in-school suspension. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the principal.
Light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
work requires stopping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas; hearing is required; visual acuity required; subject to environmental conditions and noise.
- Supervising students assigned to in-school suspension, enforcing established rules and regulations.
- Monitors student assignments given by teachers, returns completed classwork to teachers.
- Keeps daily log of ISS students and students under detention.
- Prepares and submits monthly reports on ISS students.
- Monitors ISS students during lunch and afternoon breaks.
- Counsels students when necessary.
- Prepares instructional work for students after completion of regular classwork.
- Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of the practices concerning in-school suspension programs, and appropriate methods of dealing with misconduct; ability to deal effectively with students and teachers; skill in the use of classroom and instructional equipment; ability to recognize and identify activities or situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and the general public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in working with children.
