Akima Systems Engineering (ASE), an Akima company, is looking to add to the team a Drafter/Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) Operator III to support the U.S. Coast Guard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5
ISC) in Portsmouth, VA. This full-time position falls under the C5
ISC Engineering Services Division Technical Services Branch (ESD-TECH) and will support the C5
ISC Product Lines and ESD System Engineers by developing technical drawings and graphics and helping maintain standard document formatting for various C5I systems. Must be US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance prior to starting.
- Provide CADD services to update and/or create technical drawings, graphics, and other official business documentation upon government request.
- Maintain assigned tasks within the applicable service request tool.
- Maintain a library of final products in both published and editable formats.
- Incorporate red‑line drawing updates and corrections into existing AutoCAD formatted interconnection drawings, or develop new drawings as needed, reflecting all equipment changes, system modifications, or corrections and current electronic drafting standards.
- Work with product line or ESD project/task sponsors and teams to ensure all information (equipment installed, system configuration, etc.) is up to date.
- Support product line and ESD engineering services within the scope of CADD services.
- Attend meetings and provide input/direction to program/project managers regarding assigned tasks.
- Travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations as needed to conduct on‑site evaluations of asset configuration and incorporate that information into technical drawings and graphics.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (may start once interim Secret is obtained).
- Education and experience:
- Certification from a two‑year accredited technical school in drafting with four years of drafting experience,
** or** - High school diploma with six years of drafting experience.
- Completion of an academic year at an accredited technical school may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
- Certification from a two‑year accredited technical school in drafting with four years of drafting experience,
- Proficient in developing, formatting, proof‑editing, revising, producing, and publishing CADD drawings in accordance with set standards.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Proficient writing skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time (usually within the US, but could include other countries).
